Delete a control only when it should be removed from the selected policy version. A control that needs revised wording, a new owner or a different position should be maintained through those actions instead.
Check the record
Open the control and verify its name, registered code, parent policy and version. Review its framework relationships, evidence and assessment context before deciding whether removal is appropriate. The relevant edit and deletion permissions must be available.
Confirm the deletion
In Policies, open Element options → Delete. The Delete policy element confirmation names the selected element and warns that deletion cannot be undone. Choose Cancel to keep it, or confirm Delete only after checking that scope.
After a successful deletion, check the policy structure and affected framework coverage. Removing a control can leave requirements without the supporting policy work they previously referenced.
Control deletion is an element operation. The separate Request deletion workflow applies to deleting an entire policy and must not be used as a substitute for removing one control.
