Removing outdated or redundant controls keeps your policies focused. Deleting a control is quick, but permanent: its progress, attributes, links and comments go with it.
1. Delete a Control
- Navigate to the control, from the Policies tree or the Controls page.
- Open the control's More options menu and select Delete.
- A confirmation dialog asks whether you are sure you want to delete the control and reminds you that the action cannot be undone.
- Confirm, and the control is removed.
2. Good to Know
- Controls can only be deleted on a policy version that is In Progress; approved and pending versions are read-only. Earlier versions that contained the control are not rewritten, so your history stays intact.
- Deleting a control removes its framework links, so the linked framework elements' Control Progression updates accordingly.
- You need delete rights on Policy Management to remove controls; members with read-only access do not see the action.
