Business Goals and Objectives (BGO) anchor a risk assessment in what the organisation is actually trying to achieve. Linking them to a demand makes explicit which strategic outcomes the assessed risk could support or endanger.
1. Why link BGOs to a demand
By documenting the goals and objectives at stake, you can:
- Justify the assessment: show which business outcomes make this risk worth analysing.
- Prioritise consistently: risks that threaten major objectives deserve faster, deeper treatment.
- Communicate with stakeholders: executives read risk far better when it is framed against their own goals.
- Keep security aligned: risk work stays connected to strategy instead of running as a parallel exercise.
2. Add BGOs to the demand
In the Business Goals and Objectives section of the demand:
- Click the '+' button on the right.
- Select one or more goals from your workspace's Business Goals and Objectives catalogue, then confirm with Add BGO.
- Repeat as needed to cover every objective the demand touches.
For each linked BGO you can also set:
- BGO Timeline: the horizon on which the objective matters, from your Business Goals and Objectives Timelines catalogue.
- Plan Type: the kind of plan the objective belongs to, from your Plan Types catalogue.
Tip: The available goals, timelines and plan types are workspace catalogues, editable in the Databases module under Configuration Catalogs. Curate them once and every demand picks from the same, consistent list.
