Use a custom framework for an internal standard, a tailored assessment method or requirements not available as a reference import. Give it a clear purpose and distinguish your wording from any external source.

Create the framework

  1. Open Frameworks and choose Add framework.
  2. Select Start blank.
  3. Enter a Name and Description, and choose an Icon if useful.
  4. Choose Create framework.
  5. Open the new framework and confirm its initial version and empty structure.

Build the hierarchy

Choose Add element to create the first domain. Select an existing element when you want to add a sibling or a child. The drawer shows the proposed level and location, an internal-reference preview, an editable display code, a name and a description.

Review the proposed parent before choosing Add. Continue with categories and requirements at the appropriate depth. Use meaningful display codes and descriptions so contributors can navigate without relying on position alone.

The permanent tracking ID remains separate from the display code. Preserve it when discussing or tracing a requirement across workspace changes.

Establish the assessment method

Document the scope, applicability criteria, maturity interpretation and evidence expectations. Assign owners and review schedules. Enable Available in policies if policy controls should link to the framework, and choose dual maturity when you need separate documentation and implementation scores.

Review a small representative section before building the entire structure. Once the framework is ready for wider use, follow the workspace's version approval process.
